Hi. Took my Citroen Grand Picasso to Citroen Garage, because of rubbing sound and squealing sound when driving from stationary . The rubbing and squealing is only apparent when the car is accelerating. less obivious from A3 upwards on the EGS Gearbox. The Citroen Mechanic said it is a gearbox fault and noticed that there is oil evident around
My C4 Grand Picasso displayed "gearbox faulty" last week setting the car into NEUTRAL as it dropped out of gear. Intermittently it would drive (so logic said that something else was causing the box not to drive not the box itself). I investigated further and discovered exactly what other owners had found to be the fault.
2012 C4 Grand Picasso diesel with egs gearbox, 55,000 miles. Recently, I've found the car will accelerate normally in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, but the clutch seems to slip when it selects 4th and 5th and to a lesser extent 6th gear. This can be interesting when trying to move into the space between two artics when joining a dual carriageway!
He said that unfortunately, he has had a number of C4 Picasso in for this and it appears to be a common fault. The gearbox diff should last much longer (car had done 40,000). The total bill for this job was £2,100, (but included a new 6th gear as they also advised that this was fractured).
